this small change could save your curls‼️❤️‍🔥 this reel highlights the difference finger coiling and finger rolling has on my curls✨ 💡 finger coiling = wrapping your finger repeatedly around one hair strand and then releasing it 💡 finger rolling = using two fingers to roll the hair strand to your roots, and then releasing it 👉 now of course, finger coiling will work for some people! but it’s always been a no go for me 🥲 this technique gives me wonkier curls than when I simply scrunch my hair 👎🚨 👉 finger coiling also gives me a LOT more breakable because of how much it pulls at my scalp ❌❌ A STEP-BY-STEP ON HOW TO FINGER ROLL (my fave ever technique for defining my curls) 📣 START by making sure your hair is soaking wet. not damp, I mean dripping wet 💦 if not I find my hair gets sooo tangly and makes finger rolling impossible 📣 I apply a cream and gel before finger rolling to help the curls clump together - today I paired the @curlsmith_official feather light protein cream with the @umbertogiannini curl jelly 📣 then run your fingers down and smooth the hair strand (for sectioning, I find that if my hair is fully wet then the hair strands naturally clump together, making it easy to separate them when styling) 📣 place your index finger beneath the hair strand and then, with your other hand, use your middle finger to place the hair under the index finger (I have a few tutorials on finger rolling - go to my guides to have a look 🫶🏼) 📣 then roll right up to your roots, gently releasing your fingers and unwinding the curl clump ✨ 🪞 use a mirror to focus on the back section 📣 optional: (though I always do it) apply a little more gel, scrunching it into the curl clumps to secure them and keep the definition during the drying process 📣 diffuse or air dry until COMPLETELY dry! (I always diffuse as it’s a lot quicker and gives me bouncier curls) then use your palms to scrunch out any gel cast that remains on your hair after the drying process if you love finger coiling then go you! but for me, it’s a hard pass 🤒 the definition I get from finger rolling is unmatched🫶🏼 if you have any questions then feel free to leave a comment!🥰🥰 ##curlyhair##curlyhairtips##3acurls##curlygirl##curlyhairroutine##curly
