I agree that you should not propose on holidays just because you don’t want to buy Christmas presents. I also think you shouldn’t use the ring as a “continued present”. Like, “ I bought you that ring in November that’s your Christmas present”

I agree with Alex. A proposal is separate from a Christmas gift. You don’t have to buy anything expensive, but you could make something, get a couple small things, anything! Regardless of when the proposal happened, that doesn’t have to do with the Christmas festivities. Two separate things🤷🏼♀️again, you could make something instead of buying something if that’s the problem. Just my take

My first husband proposed to me on my birthday AND showered me with birthday gifts. Fast forward- my current hubby and I don’t even buy each other gifts on gift giving designated occasions. It shouldn’t be about gifts as much as what you get out of the relationship.

I liken this story to say someone born on Christmas. Do you only give them a bday gift and not bday and Christmas? Just because she was proposed to, doesnt negate Christmas. He could've gotten her something thoughtful or funny or even something like bath products. Something to say hey, I was thinking of you for when the excitement of being proposed to dies down.
