Despite a large police investigation and years of renewed appeals for information, Daniel has never been found. Daniel had been living in Great Yarmouth with his parents and siblings after the family moved from Burnley several years earlier. Friends and family described him as an energetic child who often played in the streets near his home. On the afternoon of his disappearance, Daniel went out on his bicycle to spend time in the local area, something that was common for children in the neighbourhood. At around 5:05 p.m., Daniel was captured on CCTV at a nearby shop, marking the last confirmed sighting of him. When he failed to return home later that evening, concern quickly grew. His family searched the area before contacting police, who soon launched a large-scale effort to locate the missing boy. The following morning, Daniel’s red BMX bicycle was discovered abandoned near Trinity Quay, close to the River Yare waterfront not far from his home. The discovery immediately focused attention on the river, prompting divers and search teams to examine the water and surrounding area. Despite the extensive search operation, no sign of Daniel was found. As the investigation continued, police followed hundreds of leads and interviewed numerous witnesses. Officers explored several possibilities, including the chance that Daniel had accidentally fallen into the river, as well as the possibility of an abduction or foul play.
