My teachers told me I wouldn’t “amount to shit”. One evening one of them woke up after their car accident to my face looking down at them. I was now an ER nurse working at the Level 1 Trauma Center they had been transferred too. Shocking!!! Guess I amounted to Level 1 SHIT!!! She apologized as I was transferring her to ICU. I told her to remember me the next time she thinks saying those words to a child would be a good idea. It’s amazing what we “nothings” can do once we get away from those kids who are popular and teachers pets. Do better teachers, you never know where you will meet us again.

My high school English teacher followed me around a career fair in our gym and when I stopped at the teachers table, she told me I wasn’t smart enough. When I walked to the police table, she said I’m not strong enough. I’m a retired teacher and former police officer. Never underestimate children, they shine when they shine.
