No because I make SURE I let my nurses know ANY abnormal vitals BEFORE hitting save!! I make sure I check the vitals twice so I can give her both readings and see if she wants me to save any of those 2 readings or wait a little to retake again!!! 👏👏👏

Had a pt bp be 89/50, so i sit her up, im recycling it after i call the nurse. She runs in, pt says she “doesn’t feel right”, it pops up as 192/133 and we both just looked at the screen like 🫠 here we goooooo 😭

One time I finally sat down to chart and saw an elevated BP with a note that said “RN notified”. I called my tech immediately and told her to do a manual check and delete her comment since she definitely did NOT notify me! We laugh about it now, but I was not happy lol

I learn this with NCLEX, nurse can’t delegate responsibility, check your patients vitals every time you login, because this is a real scenario that cost YOUR license.

As a tech, I absolutely agree. 😭 I don’t want nothing coming back to me. I don’t care, I’m calling as I’m taking the cuff off to recheck the other arm. 💀😂💯 No one will traumatize me and stroke out on my shift.

Ummmmm you’re the RN and should be keeping track of your patients BP during vitals time as well. I had a nurse upset with me because a person bp was low and he was over there at the nurses station chatting it up and then sat down and saw that and confronted me about it. I could have gone and got him but at the end of the day we are a team and it’s your patient as well.

I sent the BP directly to the system and the nurse will figure it out after. if im busy the nurse can check it esp. he has patient with high blood pressure.

A girl got fired from my job because she didn’t report a low BP 80/40 and yeah the patient had a heart attack. It was a mess . I ALWAYS walk around until I find the nurse idc how behind I am . I know what room they have or I tell the charge nurse.

Lol had a tech do this to me and told me “trend says the bp was in that range” and I’m like, “No? You need to be telling me when they’re this high so I can do interventions. Don’t be making the calls for me.”
