On July 29, 2024, police say Taquida Hendrix, her sister Tiakayla, and Roy Chambers intentionally set fire to a duplex in Rochester, New York. The trio believed that the home belonged to someone who attacked Taquida and Tiakayla’s father. However, they burned down the wrong house, 5-year-old Malakai Stovall was trapped inside. Firefighters rescued him from the blaze, but he had suffered burns on more than 75% of his body and ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Tiakayla and Roy pleaded guilty to their second-degree arson charges. Tiakayla was sentenced to 12 years in prison, while Roy was sentenced to 9 years. Taquida was found guilty of murder, arson, and assault, and received 25-years-to-life for her role in Malakai’s death. #truecrime #sentencing
