Distributism has already had a significant impact on the modern economy, so as a standalone implementation, the doctrine is no longer necessary. Initially, it sounds cool, but full implementation is foolish because to achieve it, you would have to go against the very essence of the economy by forcing individual units to be exactly what distributism proposes.
In short, I mean that without strict state control, requirements for a company's internal structure will not be followed by individual units, meaning such a system will never be realized. Regarding the idea that if a product can be produced by a smaller company, then larger companies should not produce it—this is basically already being implemented; just look at the EU, where small business rights are very strongly protected. However, we shouldn't forget that this isn't always beneficial. Take Germany, for instance: the ratio of wages to the price of a standard basket of goods is higher there, whereas in Russia it is lower, all because larger companies can produce cheaper products.
