As a nurse too I also struggle with dementia patients and how I feel we are treated. I totally get that they can’t help it but at some point how does that make it okay for us to? I feel anyone copping abuse, both verbally and physically would get sick of it - regardless if there was intention or not. Sometimes I feel people don’t understand how much of a toll it seriously takes 🙃

As a daughter of a patient like you were explaining. I’m so sorry. My mum has Korsakoff syndrome and has been in the hospital 6+ months, and the way she speaks to some of her nurses blows my mind. Funny to see it from the nurses perspective.

My dads currently in hospital and the ward he’s in there’s a lot of dementia patients and there is one lady Joan who you have to watch when you come and go because she’ll bolt given the chance. Bless her. I feel for nurses though constantly having to watch where she is when ppl come and go.

I use to have a dementia resident that would tell all the other residents not to have there medication because I was poisoning them. omg. those nights were so long. she would hit medications out of residents hands.
