Looks like a velodyne. You sure you "build that yourself"

"Thinking quickly, Dave constructed a LIDAR scanner with only a bit of PLA, a raspberry pi, and a LIDAR scanner."

Maybe Tony Stark really could build the iron man suit in a cave in the desert.

Any plans to release the schematics to GitHub? Would love to try building this for Gaussian splatting with Brush and LichtFeld Studio!

Man, if only I had something like that back in 1978 when I worked for my dad's best friend who was a geologist who employed me to go down old, abandoned mine shafts to help him survey copper, silvear, and gold miles. But the tools we used were a compass, a magnetometer, and a Walkie Talkie ... oh, and a clipboard with grided paper with a ¼" grid which equaled 4'-0" squared. I would call out my position every couple of feet using the compass and the magnetometer, and he would create these amazingly accurate 3-D maps that were accurate to within about 2" inches, plus or minus. I was 15 years old, and he paid me $15.00 an hour ... in 1978! I have such wonderful memories of my teen years.
