@tuhkyjuhslife: The first book to make me cry in 2026 belongs to Travels with Charley in search of America by #johnsteinbeck . WHAT a way to end the book. For 250 pages, its bee deeply reflective and lighthearted. His chapters about the South are haunting almost. Before I knew it, I was BOOHOOONG at a NONFICTION book 😭 @Penguin Classics can yall pay half my therapy bill?! #BookTok #travelswithcharley #eastofeden #grapesofwrath
My husband and I almost exclusively come to your page for book recommendations now. Adding this to our list. ❤️

I hear you! I think Steinbeck has his white privilege but I also think he tries to appreciate others. Maybe I’m naive but I think he tried to be open to people who aren’t like him?

I’ve never read Steinbeck— embarrassed to say. But you’ve sold me. I’m going to dip into his books this year. Thank you.

“All of him seemed to shrink in the seat as though he sucked in his outline to make it smaller.” “But walking was safer than riding with me.” 💔💔💔 this whole scene still takes up space in my heart. When I read EofE I remember thinking wow he was an amazing author. When I finished TWC I thought he was a good human. Can you imagine what it would be like to have such a gift as he did in this modern day. To be able to make people FEEL another’s fears, wounds, sufferings with the stroke of a pen. I would love to read a book he wrote about the world we live in today. I’m not sure my heart could stand it. ♥️
