Harrison intended to disappear and asked Perry to help cover for him. Perry was out all night assisting Harrison in his departure and planting false clues that he might be dead. Perry decided to try and pin the “death” on his mother and brother, either for an inheritance or to gain more control over his life. He bungled it and incriminated himself also, and the plan backfired. Harrison ran out of money doing whatever he was doing and decided to try to return to his old life, using this elaborate story to cover what was almost certainly theft of the rent money

Harrison was inded atacked by Perry Brothers ( probably masked). They whantet his colected money but did not whant to murder him so they sold him in slavery so he wuld not tell on them in case he recognized them. They hed to wait till morning for ship to sail of.

Hear me out - Harrison met Perry on the road hence why neither returned that evening , they had an agreement about the rent monies he collected , Perry was meant to cast suspicion on someone else they would then meet up and split the money when the plan went sideways Harrison fled and the rest is literally history

I’m a little late to this, but how do we know the returning william harrison wasn’t an imposter? i remember one of your other cases where something similar happened and the guy only got caught because of familial issues. Any irregularities would just be dismissed as a byproduct of the man’s age
