In actuality, There is no empirical evidence that civil rights laws have produced widespread, systemic discrimination against whites comparable to the long history of anti-Black exclusion those laws were meant to address. The “problem” of equality today is less that civil rights damaged white people, and more that a country built on racial hierarchy is struggling over whether genuine multiracial democracy will exist at all. In 2025 the Supreme Court unanimously rejected special extra burdens for white “reverse discrimination” plaintiffs, ruling that Title VII’s text does not distinguish between majority and minority groups.
