Would you do if they say, you are now laid off and the severance is two weeks a year. Under this scenario, you are laid off and it’s not negotiable.

I worked for a corporation 1 month shy of my 20 yrs tenure before I got laid off during covid. I got 2 weeks per every year full pay. 🥺 They target specific personnel in my opinion. I was 42 then.

That won’t work at major corps where severance is prescribed. If they were to negotiate it would create legal exposure. And let’s not get into states that are at will where severance isn’t even required.

This is amazing advice! Unfortunately at 50, I was laid off during Covid and was offered zero severance package. I couldn’t even get my medical extended for a month. True story. I had been with my company for 20 years. I was in good standing, a top performer, etc. It was really their way of eliminating high earners, and this was the perfect storm. 👍🏻
