I don’t order coffee out anymore because of this. Also, I recently picked up dinner from a small food truck/cart. The sign said $14. I tapped to pay. The tapper was up high where I couldn’t see it. I got home and got an alert about my Apple Pay charge. He charged me $20. You have to be so careful and question everyone even when it’s uncomfortable. Businesses are taking advantage of us.

Ok so in Miami it’s now it’s 20% automatic “service charge” on dining checks, but “gratuity” can be added on top that “just goes to your server” while the 20% is split between everyone. I can’t! I need to. Budget for 30% on top of hideously high pricing?! 💀
