ALSO….they don’t BUILD starter homes anymore. Every new build is condos and McMansions.

Realtor here... a lot of boomers are stuck in the homes that would be "starter homes" for millenials, bcuz they can't afford to downsize, bcuz EVERYTHING is too expensive.

I would also argue that starter homes don’t really even exist anymore.

Let’s also remember that these “starter homes” are getting bought up by companies and rented out at high rates so even those of us who could fit in a starter home can’t find one to buy even if we could afford to do so.

To be fair even what boomers are considering “starter homes” are STILL $300,000+ and haven’t been touched or renovated since 1989 so you still have to have thousands of $$ on hand to get it even livable 😂

Not to mention most "starter homes" are priced at $300k+. Bring back starter home pricing and maybe we'd be able to!!

I’m 52. I paid $340,000 for my “starter” home 20 years ago. It’s valued at 1.1 million now. That’s insane. The boomers are way out of touch. My kids are gen z. There is no way for them to afford even a starter home in our area!

Bought my first ‘starter home’ in 2017. Our starter home is now our forever home because we can’t afford anything bigger. 🤷🏻♀️

And yet they keep building more and more homes that no one can afford. The older generations hear 'housing crisis' and think the problem is a LACK of homes, instead of the reality being the COST
