We always say that we should tell people how we feel so they can understand us. But what’s the point of opening up when the other person isn’t mature enough to understand? If they can’t listen, reflect, or take responsibility, expressing our feelings becomes useless not because our feelings don’t matter, but because the person isn’t capable of receiving them.

I would never send the long messages explaining how I felt because I always felt like I would come off as crazy, annoying or just too much. A few days ago I ended things with this guy that just wanted to have fun but I felt a genuine connection. I told him how I felt and let it all out as well as telling him how I deserve so much more than a casual relationship or whatever that was. I didn’t get a sweet message or a declaration of his feelings, but I felt so much lighter and even though im still hurting it has been easier to move on and not go through the whole what if I said what was bothering me or how I felt which is something that I usually do (imagining over and over a conversation that never happened and not being able to move on). I took a chance at least that’s what my dad said :) and to do that it took a lot of bravery and courage.
