@sambentley: This giant floating ball is creating cheap, clean unlimited energy just by bobbing in the ocean! And how it works makes a lot of sense! It's called Ocean 2, a prototype that's now live and generating power, developed by the Portland-based team at Panthalassa. As the ball bobs in the waves, water is forced up through a tube beneath the surface and into the sphere. That water then drains back out, spinning turbines and producing electricity. The simple and uninvasive design means that these devices could be built and deployed in deep open oceans quickly and affordably without harming marine ecosystems. And because they don’t have to be close to shore like other renewables, the potential to harness the open ocean’s power is huge! #goodnews #cleanenergy #tiktokforgood
It’s really sad that greed is likely literally the only thing stopping the mass production and usage.

plus these if built on even further could also filter the water for micro plastics and the bases of them could be used for reefs in shallower areas

how do you transport the power generated to where it is needed?

question, how do they get the electricity back?
do they use underwater cables or something?

What sort of upkeep would it need? (I'm wondering about salt build-up, barnacles, etc?)

Are fish and marine life safe with the method that is transporting the electric back to its destination?

So in my feeble mind,
the waves are created between the gravitational pull between the earth and the moon, the power is generated by pressure difference by the movement of the ball, which is bobbing due to waves......therefore, it's moon power. 😂

ok, looks cool, but 2 things, 1. how does it store and or transport the electricity it produces? 2. how would it stop fish or other marine species from getting sucked in and blended?

🌊🌊🌊I’m going to research this. How does the power get from the open ocean to the main land? So many questions. Reminds me of Captain Nemo’s submarine/home life, without the consumption and destruction of rare wildlife of course.

Love to hear of the potential of not damaging the marine ecosystems. I live in a typhoon-prone part of the Pacific. Are they figuring out it will survive typhoons, including super-typhoons?
