@marsh.the.fox: This is a sample of Colbalt Bearing Calcite from the Democratic Republic of Congo in central Africa. This region is home to a significant amount of mines, some with rather poor conditions, which are mining deposits of Colbalt in 880 million year old rocks of the Katanga Supergroup. Samples like these represent a secondary industry of collector minerals that has sprouted up as a result of this activity which has been producing these gorgeous samples of Calcite for decades. #rocks #minerals #geology #crystals #pink
