Thank you! I thought I was insane. Pain scales are arbitrary and confusing to me especially since I didn't get a lot of physical care as a kid. I hate answering the question so much that my neurologist will often just put down a 9 for our visit. haha

I hate the pain scale with a passion, because peritonitis was the absolute worst pain I’ve ever felt I tell drs that and how my pain scale is different, they usually get mad at that

In UK I have waited 14 months for pain management appt now they have cancelled my 17th February appt moved it to 7th April I am in agony been off work all week

it tell people all the time....get a new doctor. if you aren't being listened too. insurance often keeps people without great options though.

You definitely have to fight and advocate for yourself. I needed a pacemaker and the Ins denied it twice with all medical evidence that was needed. That was until I filled an appeal and they approved it within 24hrs. Same with a MRI.

What do you recommend for someone who DOESNT like controlled pain medication? The times where I said I don’t like controlled medications, they act like I have a problem when in reality I just hate how I feel on them. 🥺

Unfortunately there are fewer providers willing to prescribe, so it's hard to find another that will. I wish there was a list of providers. 😀

I rang my pain clinic yesterday to check on the wait list times.....so far I have waited 32 weeks and the list is at a wait time of 52 weeks!! I'm waiting on epidural for back pain. I cant function but they say, nothing more we can do but wait ... WTF. I'm so tired of the pain.

All this is true but am I the only one who feels the hardest part is finding good doctors especially those who will work with patients who need help with pain.

I only use the pain scale to measure against their next pain scale to help indicate if my treatment plan is helping. Their 5 may be my 10 but their 4 against their 5 tells me we are heading in the right direction
