China is behaving like it’ll still be around in 100 years and is trying to solve its current problems to get there, while the US is just coasting on momentum and hasn’t solved a single problem in 40 years

Love that bamboo is so fast growing, sounds like a legitimate threat to petro-plastics if scaled.

Yeah… take a look at Chinese electric cars… there is a reason the US doesn’t allow them to be imported (it would crash the US auto market)

It's also a carbon capture plastic, as the bamboo captures the carbon dioxide as it grows so the more things are made from this plastic, the more carbon is captured and stored as something useful. If it gets broken down by microbial action, then the CO² released is just the same stuff that it already absorbed when it grew so it's Carbon neutral, apart from the processing. Interesting tech.

Baffles me that it decomposes but plastic like PVC is used buried holding water so it couldn’t help with that?

So I am still listening but just bc something is made from a natural source does not mean that it biodegrades safely- just as a psa. Other chemicals used to make a product can change molecular structures of other chemicals that could form unsafe substances. — this isn’t for the creator here just something we consumers need to keep in mind.
