honestly i get the fact that he’s ur dad but you can jut leave it at that. you can say hi u can say bye but you don’t owe him anything right now because he has to be aware that a relationship between the two of you is based on what you each put in it. you can acknowledge him being your dad but you don’t necessarily have to be the same person you were before the incident. that’s how im trying to cope with my dads alcoholism. he isn’t the same person. so he needs to build up that trust that he broke

coming from someone whose whole life was turned upside down when i was 17 due to my fathers actions; put yourself first. i get the empathy but girl, your father needs to do his own healing and self reflection. unfortunately if you feel its best to cut off or limit ties with him, do it. i cut off all communication with my father after years of trying to give him so many chances to act right that just went so wrong. i’ve never been happier. im 23 now and living. its going to suck but in the long run is for the better. always remember you may be thinking about how he’s feeling now but he wasnt thinking about you or your families feelings while he was out having an affair. i wish you nothing but the best babe🩷

I don’t have a lot of advice, but put yourself first, go to therapy, work on yourself so that u can make the best decision for yourself. i’m sorry i can’t imagine going through all this :(

Honestly, you’ll figure this out in time (hopefully not and your dad maybe gets his act together) but the belief of “he is my dad at the end of the day” will mean less to you the more he disappoints you. And it’s completely okay, bc yes he is your dad but like that means nothing if he doesn’t act like it!! Sending you much luv
