to all my homies in production, you can get it from people around you. its not just you tacking stuff without a hood. It’s everything around you. Been welding for 5 years and just got it last month for the first time. I have blue eyes which made it worse. Legit one of the worst pains I’ve ever felt for 2 days. Had to constantly put drops in for about 2 weeks for it to heal properly. Couldn’t put my contacts back in or it would just burn.

Been there several times. Flash burn feels like a bucket of sand dumped in your eyes and you wash it out with acid. As for exposed skin. It’s 100 times worse than sunburn. Good paying job. I’m 50ish now and paying it all back now.

safety glasses all the time and glasses + a welding hood with a clear lens when tacking spools up with a welder 👌

Went to the ER one time at 10pm and bypassed everybody in the waiting room for flash burn. The Dr told his nurses if you ever see a man being led into the ER by his woman he is in severe pain and needs to be seen immediately. Most pleasant ER visit I’ve ever had. Never been back for it either 🤘🏼😂

While talking about eyes can we go over the side effects of auto darkening welding hoods vs standard fixed shade. I have been welding for 10 years and have noticed my eyes fatigue after long term use of a auto darkening hood.

There is nothing like sandpaper eyes! Oddly enough it’s better than having actual sand in them. But hard to sleep like that haha. I had no idea about the c rays, thanks for the learning as always ma’am.
