My mom would take me on walks when I had a problem and come up with the WORST solutions. Which always got me processing and thinking what would be better way to handle it. Turns out she did that on purpose 😅

This is how I am and I started to worry that I tried too hard or pushed my girls too much. I asked my son once what he wanted to learn. We went to the library and checked out a shark encyclopedia. He made me read every. single.page. That was the last time I let him choose what he wanted to learn.

We bought our 12 year old a professional camera (reasonably priced) and some accessories because she couldn’t stop talking about wanting to take pictures. She now takes her camera bag everywhere and is taking pictures in between her matches at volleyball tournaments. I had no idea how it would go once she got the camera but I am so proud of her dad and I for making it work for her. I almost cried the first time I saw her take it out at a tournament with no prompting and sat on the sidelines of a different match when her teammates were doing whatever they wanted. I hope she always know that we support whatever interests her

One of the greatest gifts my mom gave me was the ability to be understanding. Every time I told her about something negative in my life (and I mean just petty drama) she’d come back with some sort of comment about being grateful for the things I have and how others had it worse, which as a child I hated. If I complained about people she’d always say that they probably have something going on in their life and to give them grace, which I also hated. As an adult, I notice I have so much more perspective on the world than most people because I understand that not every person had the same thoughts, ideas, morals, life, upbringing, etc.
