@kids.nutritionist: Leah here (pediatric dietitian)- When building baby's plate I always recommend trying to have one iron-rich food and then choosing some sides to go with it! It doesn't have to be complicated or elaborate. Make a recipe ahead of time or choose some fruit that is easy to slice! Here we have: 🥚Veggie Egg bites: If you are worried about food waste you can offer the bites cut in half that can be easier for a baby with their palmar grasp to pick up! Tomato: Is a great source of vitamin C (which helps baby absorb the iron). PLUS it's so soft it's an easy food to offer Avocado: The real mvp of most of my plates! It’s nutrient dense and a great texture for young eaters. Babies and kids under two don’t have nutrient restrictions for fat so it’s a great way to get calories and nutrients in even if they only have little bites.
