@sacramentourbanmedia916: A 31-year-old man has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison after a court found he knowingly exposed a woman to HIV by stopping his treatment and failing to disclose his diagnosis. #LukeDavis, from Kidderminster in Worcestershire, was convicted at Hereford Crown Court of causing grievous bodily harm. Judges heard that Davis was diagnosed with HIV in 2017 and initially followed medical advice, but completely disengaged from treatment by 2019. The woman later tested positive for HIV in 2021 during a routine health screening. During sentencing, Judge Martin Jackson said Davis deliberately chose not to inform the woman of his condition for “entirely selfish” reasons, despite being clearly advised by healthcare professionals to disclose his diagnosis and use protection with sexual partners. The judge told the court that Davis ignored repeated medical guidance and showed a significant level of planning by withholding information that could have protected his partner from harm. He added that the woman now lives with the ongoing risk of serious, potentially fatal health consequences. A victim impact statement read in court described the moment of diagnosis as devastating. The woman said she felt physically unwell and overwhelmed, calling it the darkest period of her life. She told the court the virus has permanently altered how she sees herself and her future, describing it as something she will carry forever.#fyp #viral
