yeah… my mom passed me down a very beautiful, vintage pea coat that she never even wore. i wore it once around my family and was told i was ‘over dressed’ and looked ‘out of place’ while literally standing IN SNOW.

my mom only wanted me to do things she couldn't and shamed me for not being talented enough but when I choose art and fashion design she shamed me for that too until she found out I won a paid trip to Germany to study for two weeks and working there was one of my mom's dreams too and she's taking credit for my achievements

I bought 3 bed semi detached Victorian house at 27, after growing up really poor in a council house this was a huge achievement. The first time my brother came over he commented on how small it was. He lives in a 2 bed flat with his gf and 2 kids. It’s bigger than anywhere we lived growing up 🤷🏼‍♀️

when i got my first job at 14 I bought myself a nice dress to wear to my sisters wedding I saved up for weeks I wore it once and my mother looked straight at me and said "you're not better than us just because you have money now" and told me to change I have never returned an item of clothing faster in my life
