Ok I get that. But how about appreciating the fact that someone is trying to speak your language? They don’t mean bad, they just try to be polite.

When someone says in my language thank you, for me it doesn’t matter if that person said it right or wrong. I appreciate the effort and I respect that someone is even trying. 💕

Don’t worry guys. If you are LEARNING Japanese and want to IMPROVE more, then you should know that difference but if you are a beginner or tourist, Arigato is enough. We still feel respect from you guys.

im my language u have one word for thank you and it is enough, its about being polite and basic considerate, not meeting your personal needs as an individual, for every person to his own, so if people say arigato with a smile that is more than genuine and polite, not bitter sweet. Nobody wants to offend anyone but also people don't have time for learning someones way of things so basic politeness should be enough

Some countries don’t have the class hierarchies in their culture like Norway🇳🇴 . We use casual conversation and greetings to anyone, no matter if you’re king, the prime minister or your neighbor.

It’s also that, in the west, we’re very casual with each other. Even total strangers. Arigato is, to us, “thanks mate” which is a totally normal thing to say to literally anyone. At least where I’m from.
