I'm gonna bean soup this a bit, so apologies in advance. Abstractly, I like this framework, but when I apply it personally it just feels confusing and adds a bit more grief to everything. My parents were abusive, but in between the chaos were good moments with them. So there were solid flashes of what they could have been, evidenced by those moments. The way my brain analyzes things, it immediately goes to: why couldn't they have done this more generally, when they were in fact capable? And I guess pulling that back out generally, it's the same. We have small moments of wins and we're seeing that it is in fact possible to live in a positively optimistic world, but there are conscious decisions being made to not make that the case. And it feels confusing, adds to the chaotic feeling and I find it almost insurmountable to find joy in those wins and moments.
