The bone temple used the parallelism style. They show that humans are starting to loose their humanity while the infected alpha is gaining his. The leader dude suffering from delusions and psychosis, which is also one of the things experienced by the people infected by the rage virus.

For all the comments talking about zombie movie: while yes it’s set in a zombie apocalypse, the whole point (which you can tell by the naming) is about what life and society is like after a certain amount of time in those conditions. So yeah there’s gonna be some group of people after almost 30 years who turn towards religion and demons to describe the only world they know and that’s what the movie is about
