Juliana Peres Magalhaes, the au pair involved in a suspected love triangle murder plot, took the stand to give her side of the story. Brendan Banfield is accused of planning an elaborate murder plot to kill his wife, Christine Banfield, so he could run off with Magalhaes. Police believe that Banfield created a fake profile of Christine on a fetish website to lure Joseph Ryan into their home. According to Magalhaes, Ryan agreed to come to the house and play out a sexual fantasy involving knives and ropes. Magalhaes told prosecutors Banfield had Christine's cell phone, which he used to disable the home's automatic locks, before texting Ryan on Telegram to park in the driveway and walk in. Once Ryan “attacked” Christine with a knife, Banfield arrived at the home to confront him. Magalhaes said Banfield shot Ryan in the head, and Christine told her to call 911. Magalhaes said she hung up immediately when Banfield gave her a hand gesture that looked like hanging up a phone. Banfield then asked Magalhaes to go to the bathroom to get a towel. The au pair said when she handed him the towel, he began stabbing her in the neck. Banfield is charged with first-degree murder and is maintaining his innocence.
