My HS job was a restaurant and we went so far as to polish the brass fixtures every night after close. We kept that place as close to pristine as possible. The flattops were cleaned with lemons then seasoned with oil.

Me pet peeves: the slimy, sticky menus and when the server touches the glass when refilling water. Grossss! That means that pitcher has touched everyone else’s glass, too!!

Agree! As a restaurant owner, the amount of time we spend cleaning menus and cleaning trim/tables/fixtures and bathroom is worth the time. It makes a huge difference.

My pet peeve is the one you mentioned, when we’re having our appetizer and they bring out our entrees. I can’t stand it. Now we will not order our entrees until we are done with our appetizers. We just keep telling our server that we’re not ready to order yet. Also it gives us a nice break between the two courses.
