I think another layer of what makes this movie so good is the fact that Remmick is specifically Irish. Irish people also have a history of being colonized, and they weren’t considered White in the USA until the middle of the 20th century. So not only was Remmick a literal monster, but by wanting to take Sammy and his music for himself, he became the same as the people who colonized his village.

This scene was sooooo cool to me. I loved seeing the historical influences in music throughout time in the communities and how it changed through modern times. It was really beautiful. The costuming, lighting, sound, ugh it’s so good
