@looking_for_romans: Maison Carrée: Roman Temple in Nîmes, France #rome #archeology #provence Built during the reign of Emperor Augustus around 5 AD, this Maison Carrée is a typical Roman temple: Stairs only in front, high platform, deep porch. It has served a lot of functions over the millenia, so several restorations were needed to get it back to its current condition. Unfortunately, the inside it just a shell, but the outside a very impressive even if the stairs and doors are modern. Paul Bredt Looking for Romans
