💯 The Realm of the Elderlings 😭 I find the first books in the RotE series are a bit slower the characters and backgrounds are set up, but then the next ones are bangers. So it might be not have been you doing bad by Assassin’s Apprentice.

ROTE ROTE ROTE👏👏 Also just to throw this opinion out there re: Captive Prince bc the fandom is so feral—I read book 1 and overall liked it but ended up DNF’ing book 2 bc I was not getting the nuance I needed given the more problematic elements. So my take would be that you can prob find other books in that vein that do it better!
