Whether they were part of this, complicit or just complacent, they all brought America to where it is now. They don't even care about their OWN kids getting pew pewed in schools- I don't want those kind of people here

So as a woman and POC this is all so frustrating. My own country doesn’t want me and I guess neither does anywhere else. Just don’t think you are better than those who didn’t help others in 1930s Germany.

Some of these comments are way too harsh. Most of those that want to leave are people that are at risk. Think POCs, trans, queer, etc. Those people deserve safety if they can get it. I’m also sure most of those people would want to immigrate the right way.

i am just sort of frustrated that canada has been threatened by america for years and americans did nothing to speak out against it, and didnt take it seriously at all, and how we are expected to help them. They need to start standing up to their government, in a real, serious way. However, I am very sad and empathize with the americans who have worked against this and everyone around them just seems to be complicant. So frustrating.

My partner had been living with me in Canada for three years. He’s American. He had to go home to renew his drivers license. We’re in the middle of a permanent residency application, and I had brought with the documentation to show that a paralegal had been hired. They would not let him back into the country and he’s been banned for a year so I can only see him by crossing into the US now

As an American healthcare worker who works in Canada there is a process that still has to be completed - you can't just show up and be like 'hey I'm a nurse let me in' you have to get licenses, job offer, work permit etc. And even tho it's expedited it still takes 4-6 months from application for license to starting work.

Good info. Showing up at the border with the family, pets and suitcases is a sure fire way to get on the radar of CBSA. It works both ways and the US borders do not let Canadians do this either, for the same reasons

Do people not understand that Canada is its own country. It’s not part of the US, you can’t just move there without following the proper steps, just like you can’t move to Europe without going through a process.
