I also am so amazed by how well spoken you are, I just had to say that. Being able to express all of these thoughts, and without saying “like” and “but” and “um” every 5 words.. couldn’t be me😂 I have so many thoughts but they feel so scrambled half the time

This is such a good insight. My abusive ex would get mad at ME for my trauma responses bc she perceived it as me being randomly triggered and so it “wasn’t fair” to her. But they would only happen when she would act exactly like my abusive father, so my body was picking up on the abuse that my brain refused to see.

For me, it was about first trusting myself that I'll be about to handle no matter what the other person does and secondly, how they react to me needing some reassurance or help in certain emotional scenarios. Are they a resource for me or just taking from me when it's convenient.

It’s incredibly difficult to trust yourself again, but then you’ll meet someone who is so genuine and it’s such a peaceful feeling. …after you get past the initial panic😅 but when they continue to show up for you in the same way that you do for them, it really does bring you so much peace and makes to realize you never did need to settle and just “cope” with it.
