alte in nigeria is mostly seen as just an aesthetic (it's even derogatory at times) or like grouping for "queer" people but there's no; as you've explained in this vid– stance on politics or any fundamental principle within it & it's sad asf. im so proud of you for speaking on this

i think most nigerians are stuck in this very white supremacist political/ideological framework that anchors them to the ‘acceptance’ of whatever nonsense the government does. They see alternative subculters as mirrors of western liberal politics that’s why when they see something different they try to bring shame to it—as for the people who are participants in said subcultures, like you said, they often don’t care to reclaim any type of political power through them. Nigeria is in shambles and i don’t know for how much longer that country will resist before collapsing.
