FOIA records are public records. When a document is released under the Freedom of Information Act, it is meant for public use and transparency. Government records themselves are not privately owned creative works, and they are not protected in the same way as copyrighted content. That means they can be shared, quoted, and shown publicly.
If a person knowingly submits a copyright takedown against FOIA material, that can be considered a false or fraudulent claim. On platforms like YouTube or TikTok, filing a false copyright strike violates their terms of service and can result in:
The claimant losing their account or strike privileges
Legal exposure for misrepresentation (under laws like DMCA §512(f) in the U.S.)
Potential civil liability if harm is caused
The key factor is intent. If someone genuinely misunderstands and makes a mistake, the platform may simply reverse it. But if someone knowingly uses copyright claims to silence or intimidate others over public records, that crosses into abuse of the system and can carry consequences.
So while anyone can file a strike, using copyright law to block the sharing of FOIA records is not legally supported—and doing it deliberately can backfire. She cannot claim FIOA records as her content.

once you post something online on a public page, it’s not private property anymore.

Wouldn’t adding a filter and stickers to the video alter it therefore not making it a 100% copyright? If so that’s all anyone needs to do going forward.

Ok I’ve noticed something about Gypsy that I’ve seen before and I’m gonna try to explain it. So all the narcissists/sociopaths I’ve met do this thing where they try to pull “gotchas” on their enemies using the system and the law, etc., and they’re all smug about it, despite how wrong and stupid they actually are. It’s like they’re always trying to win a game that no one is playing with them. They have this overwhelming need to feel like they’ve won at all costs and will go to any lengths to get revenge, it drives them crazy if they feel like someone got one over on them and they can’t stop until they feel like they have had the final word. It comes from a place of egomania and need for control. It pmo so bad because my mother is one of these people and I’ve had to grow up seeing it, it’s soooo triggering.
