That mother-son relationship (along with the genetic propensity to be narcissistic) is the ground zero of the development of narcissism in men. Regardless, their self-loathing is so overwhelming and debilitating that they simply don’t want to suffer it alone. And destroying the women in their lives allows them to “destroy” dear, old mom and the damage she did.
