You can hear the GMC has a failed lifter / camshaft. That’s why it’s so important to have a trusted automotive shop do a pre inspection.

Is the motor shot. Yes, does the guy know? Most likely not, whose fault is it really here. Buyer should have some basic knowledge and know when to walk away when something doesn’t sound right.
