@eri_willi: * kurumiya (kanazawa) traditional ryokan in the heart of kanazawa with private onsen baths in select rooms. located near kenrokuen garden, you can enjoy natural hot spring water in complete privacy while staying close to the city’s cultural attractions * beniya mukayu (kaga onsen) hands down my favorite hotel of all time, this minimalist luxury ryokan in kaga onsen region is absolutely stunning. every room has a private open-air bath, so you can enjoy the onsen experience without any concerns. the design is contemporary japanese minimalism - clean lines, natural materials, serene atmosphere. every space is oozing with quiet intention. the kaiseki dining is also exceptional and the service strikes that perfect balance between warm and understated. this place taught me how wonderful a ryokan can be. **important note**: while beniya mukayu has communal baths, these are NOT tattoo-friendly. * kanaguya (shibu onsen) located in the charming hot spring village of shibu onsen in nagano prefecture, this ryokan thought to be a source of inspiration for spirited away. there are 7 private onsens on the property, which lock shut behind you! shibu onsen itself is famous for its nine public bathhouses, and kanaguya gives you that traditional onsen town experience in one of japan’s most charming hot spring villages. * hoshinoya properties the entire hoshinoya collection accommodates tattooed guests across all their properties, but I stayed at hoshinoya tokyo. this was a wonderful stay, featuring a communal onsen sanctuary with natural hot spring water pumped from 1,500 meters underground. paired with the other amenities, including sky high kenjutsu practice, hoshinoya tokyo should be high on your list.
