Wonderful history. I’ve been to Sutters Fort many times. I’m glad it was preserved and rebuilt as a living history museum.

this is so interesting! when I was working on a project in Sacramento I had a hard time finding much info about the indigenous land features. I'm really curious about where earthworks took over historical middens and other sacred sites

Where did they get the dirt/soil to raise Old Sac with? I thought it came from around here and contributed to how flat sacramento is. And was the levees a separate project?
