@kellybaums: Side note: v grateful to also now understand why when I was a kid, my mom would always have to tell me to go to the bathroom because I never realized I had to go myself. 😂😂 pls tell me I’m not alone in this. #adhdcheck #adhdsupport #adhdsymptoms #adhdawareness #adhd #kellybaums

I recently I wanted to try flan. I was so excited to try it & as soon as it was in my mouth I was like “I hate the texture I’m not eating the rest of this.” I was so disappointed that I didn’t like it.

If it’s happening TO me, I’m hyper sensitive about it. If it’s happening IN me, I’m hypo sensitive about it

Yes! Some of my research I’ve worked on focuses on sensory sensitivity - hyposensitivity and hypersensitivity are not mutually exclusive and can co-occur! You can also be sensory seeking as well!

Having that conversation with my therapist 50 yrs she said, Maybe your too sensitive. Having RSD, being deeply insecure with low self esteem, I blocked off empathy to protect my feelings.

I think the paradox has more to do with timing. With ADHD timing issues in the brain leads to timing issues in the body. Because the timing is not consistent and fluctuates it leads to other timing issues in the body with sensory recognition
