A basic principle that should be learned when leaving one's own country is to respect others; being rude is unacceptable.

In Thai society and culture, people tend to avoid making noise that disturbs others. Using your phone quietly at all times is one solution. Also, even if the train is crowded, you won't smell any bad odors. Thai people smell great because they take good care of themselves. I hope you adapt and have a fun trip to Thailand! 🥰

What you did wasn't rude, just a little loud. Speaking as a Thai person, it's not that bad.

Thai people don't want to annoying others, so we use earbuds+smartphone quietly , respecting other people's personal space. If we want to talk to friends, we use LINE chat / FB Messenger / .. etc.

You are welcome to talk and laugh as usual, but please keep your voices down so as not to disturb other passengers. However, if you speak or laugh too loudly, we consider that impolite.

When someone’s loud, we usually don’t say anything until we really can’t stand it anymore. We get that that’s just how they grew up.
People should look to others in society as role models, not film themselves doing it on their own channel and then bullying and laughing at others. Social etiquette is something everyone should possess.

It’s incredibly inconsiderate. Everyone is trying to have a peaceful ride. Please show some respect for others in a public space; this isn't your private living room

It’s ok if you don’t understand why we look at phone that’s because we want to keep quiet in metro. It’s our culture here to not disturb others people in this very narrow place. If you want to talk or chat you still have a lot of time to do that outside metro. It’s not that hard to stop talking for a while and give other passengers a peaceful time in this very narrow and small space. Respect other people in public place is quite important in Thailand.

If you talk in public, I understand that, because it's normal for you. But sometimes, if you do something wrong, you'll definitely be warned by the public scrutiny around you.

I understand you, bro. As a foreigner, it’s normal that you can’t fully understand another country’s culture right away just by visiting. As Thai people, we welcome you to our land and hope you have a great time in Thailand❤️Also, if you’ve seen many negative comments from Thais, it’s often because we want foreigners to respect our rules and culture as well. I’m sure you’ll do that once you get to know them better. Please don’t take those comments as hatred from us. We’ve had negative experiences with some Westerners, especially recently, and that sometimes makes people less patient when they see something they feel is disrespectful. But tbh, you noise is not that loud tho. It’s kinda fine but just don’t do it next time lol 😂

PDPA law is there for a reason, or just basic decency to respect others' privacy.
