In my opinion one of the coldest photographs ever

Matao blanco ❌ :

And the YF-12 was faster. Both badasses. 😎💜🐾👏

MasterTroll :

70 year old tech

nathancroud :

I talked to an SR-71 pilot and Air Force test pilot. He said the SR-71’s speed an acceleration is the most insane feeling in the world. They’d be flying at 70,000 feet and get a missile launch alert. I asked if they had any countermeasures onboard. He said “yeah, we had countermeasures” and pointed at the engines😭😭

Brutalslammingthug :

all to lose to a manhole 🗿

jvnoesqve :

This thing could OUTRUN missiles- even in today world. Old tech thats still modern. Designed with future intention, used in the past

B :

Fun fact: The SR-71 outran a SAM missle from Libya across France airspace without permission when intercepted by a French fighter jet, The SR-71 pilot flipped the bird turned up the afterburners and ran 🤘🙂‍↕️

cole.h :

mind you it leaks fuel on the ground because it need the pressure from the altitude it reaches to hold together

Matt Schubert :

The A-12 was faster on Paper, but the SR-71 went so fast on missions that they had to classify It’s top speed past 2,193 mph. It’s top speed is faster than we realize 💀

Devon Lewis :

Finally got to see one a couple months ago! It’s simply amazing!

Strider Rich :

I did ts in bo1.

DragsVII :

Joule :

You think If more money was poured onto the X-15 program we would’ve had a mach 6 plane that could do that for a prolonged time and distance?

NoneOfYourBusiness :

Designed with slide rules.

Paul Aguayo :

the first clip oddly fermiliar 🤔

Tanner Feltman :

I’m sorry but is it just me that in the first clip it looks EXACTLY LIKE the mission from BO1???? Where your the pilot of it and give the ground support? Or imma bugging?

Fairchild republic a10 warthog :
