@kendospirit.jp: A single defeat does not end the Way. Rise, and walk it again. Even the greatest samurai have fallen countless times. Each fall is a chance to polish the heart, to rise with deeper resolve. The Way continues only for those who stand up once more. What gave you the strength to rise when everything felt heavy? #KendoSpirit #Bushido #SamuraiExperience #KendoExperience
I’ve practiced Kendo for about 20 years, and honestly, I’ve lost more times than I can count. Even fighting for a spot on the regular team in high school wasn’t easy. In my first two years, I didn’t get to play in a single match, and that period was incredibly painful for me. But I didn’t want that time to become a regret I’d carry for the rest of my life. If I gave up then, the only thing left would be “I wish I tried harder.”
Eventually I did make it into the regular lineup, but we lost in the finals, and losing that match still shows up in my dreams sometimes. I have reflection, but I have no regret. For who I was back then, I did everything I could.
When a goal feels far away, it’s easy to feel powerless. But I’ve come to believe that the real value isn’t only in the result. It’s in the process of walking toward it. When I feel like giving up, I ask myself one question: Will I regret it later if I stop now?
