I was raised in a conservative evangelical Christian military pro-GOP home in the Deep South, and even I walked out of that and voted Obama in my first ever election, and blue ever since. I’ve been no contact with my entire family for 12yrs over it. I married a progressive man from a similar upbringing and our children have NEVER met any of them. It’s a CHOICE! They choose not to educate themselves and not to seek new information bc they’re comfortable in their YTness and they have a superiority complex. Full stop. When ppl ask me how I got out…spite. Spite. I recognized from age 6yr the ugly/evilness in the adults around me, and I made it my entire life’s mission to be the opposite of them in every single way. I sought out education. I listened to minorities and immigrants. For my lineage, the ingrained racism ends with me!
