@ellingson.tv: This is a “Pepper’s Ghost” reflection effect from the surface of a selenite cube. The crystalline structure of the mineral allows the image to travel from my phone through the rock. There are other minerals that do this, including Ulexite, which is known as “TV rock”. #peppersghost #minerals #selenite

Satin spar (not selenite) doesn’t have fiber optic qualities. This is ulexite. You’re correct on how it is structured and how it works. It was just mislabeled at the crystal shop, which is very common. I see it all the time.

This is probably the best “hologram” ive seen… just the aesthetics of a “crystal” and a glass globe are dope

This is actually ulexite. Ulexite is a borate mineral (sodium calcium borate), and selenite is a variety of gypsum, specifically calcium sulfate. They look incredibly similar, but definitely are *not* the same.

This is a “Pepper’s ghost” reflection effect, not a magical hologram created from a rock. Please see my pinned post with the eyeball in a snow globe for a demo about “Pepper’s ghost” and how I use it in my art. Also, the consensus is that it’s Satin Spar and not Selenite. They are often confused and mislabeled. Carry on.

You have fiber optic strands in the beaker as well. This give the appearance of a holographic 3D image even though it's not real holography. Very Clever...
