Plasma was close to OLED at that time. But degraded faster (burn in), high power consumption etc. and later discontinued.

4K is just resolution — pixel count — and by itself it says almost nothing about picture quality. A cheap 4K TV can look worse than a high-quality Full HD TV because real image quality comes from contrast, panel quality, brightness, color accuracy, HDR performance, motion handling, and image processing. From normal viewing distances, most people can’t even see the extra pixels of 4K, but they can see better blacks, richer colors, and cleaner motion. In short: a well-made 1080p TV will outperform a low-end 4K TV every time.
