The Apartment Audiophile :
Record clamp over record weight, especially with low to mid budget turnatable.

I love my Snoppy. Just drilled a hole down the middle so it would fit on the spindle

I researched this topic and thanks so much for the detailed video. I have audio technica at-lp3 and it can't handle anything heavier than 20 grams (0.044 lb); this also applies to all other belt driven turn tables from audio technica (lp60, lp70, etc). hope this helps.

Dude 100% agree with you. I personally dont believe in using these because of the strain on the motors. Great content.

honestly only useful for warped records, also my tt is direct drive so it doesn’t really matter if i use a clamp or weight

I did this for fun with my Lord Of The Rings records and put the appropriate pop vinyl characters that matched with each movie. Gandalf on the Eagle was the most majestic one by far.

Never have used them. Can’t see a reason why I would. The toys are fun though.

What’s your opinion on whether the orbit basic plus can or is a good beginner turntable

My local record store guy suggests using a clamp vs a weight for helping some warped albums. But I’m with you on the use for a weight: for a little fun to put things on it for a while while it spins 😁

So if I would put like a Funko pop with a flat base that’s less than a pound on my record weight would it damage the motor?

Talking about "putting strain on your motor and belt driven turntables"....What about cleaning the record while it's spinning....¿Doesn't that also put strain? 😏😏
